I love the fact that the seats even get a parachute.
I'm quessing it might act as a "safety net" in case the pilot doesn't disengage from the seat, but all I could think was: "Well, Jesus Christ, if he has to ditch a $200 million jet fighter, we better at least save the fucking seat."

Maybe the seats have parachutes to prevent them from hitting the pilot in the front seat? It'd be pretty crappy to have a rocket going off under your butt and a spent rocket chair smacking you in the face. Also, someone somewhere probably said "You know, how crappy would it be if one of these chairs landed in a civilian populated area and killed someone?"
